In Loving Memory of ‘Shasta’
18 x 20 Acrylic on Old Wood
Dina’s Private Collection
Shasta was adopted from the local
animal shelter so my dog Buddy could have a playmate.
I
fell in love
with her immediately! She had that lovable Labrador
personality! Shasta is the reason I am been addicted to Labs! She was
so
beautiful and she loved me very much! Unfortunately, one Cold
Snowy
February morning, she was playing
with Buddy and was hit by the Milk Truck on his way to the Farm down
the street. She didn't survive. I was devastated and had a very
difficult time dealing with
her loss, Shasta had been with me for less than
a year but we had a special bond and. I missed her so much and I
wanted a BIG picture of her so I
could remember her, but the only one I had wasn't very clear.
So I took a wonderful old floor board from our Farm House and
decided to paint her portrait on it. She was the first dog I've
ever
painted and I'm grateful that I did because I wouldn't have this
wonderful memorial of her! Every time I look at that Painting I
remember what a wonderful dog she was! Years later Iadopted Mario who bears an incredible likeness to Shasta.... even his personality is similar! Shasta still lives on!
